The internet is awash with so much information on how we should be living our lives. What we should be eating, what we should be doing with our spare time, who we should be dating. What our relationships should look like, the list goes on and on.

There is a problem with all this information. There are conflicting opinions on what is good and bad for us and what we should and shouldn’t be doing. Why is, are we all so insecure and clueless that we don’t know how we should be conducting our own lives.
It seems to me its a self replicating system of reliance, reliance on experts, on government but not it seems on each other and ourselves.

I come from a time far far away when there was no mobile phones, no internet and we had to arrange social events with friends and family using a phone you had to dial and wait patiently for it to turn back to zero. And that was for each number. It took near on 2 minutes to dial a local number, and well you might as well make a cup of tea when dialing internationally.

And when she isn’t texting, she is on facebook. So I’ve banned use of phones when we are having dinner, call me old fashioned but I go out for dinner to romance my partner and actually talk about life, without the interruption of the digital nipple we all suck on these days. She is ok with that as she sees the logic behind it.

A lot of couples don’t though however. Its sad to see so many couples out for dinner these days, faces in their phones, trying to be in two places at once. It just doesn’t really work. I’m going to buy myself one of those mobile phone signal blocker gizmo’s and have some fun zapping the signals of random strangers mobile phones and just see what happens.

What do people do when you get in a lift, they get their phone out as a social crutch so they don’t have to talk to you or say hello. Do I smell, do I look scarey? If I was in South London, I’d be keeping my smart new phone out of sight, in-case some thieving git takes partial to wanting to have a ‘look’.

Switching my computer off and phone to flight mode.
